Messy Church Holiday Club 26th October 2021

Last Tuesday, the 26th October, Messy Church Holiday Club was blessed with lovely sunny weather for our sponsored walk along the river bank, made more exciting with a scavenger hunt! We realised on Climate Sunday that though we can’t help people affected by climate change directly, we can raise money to give to people who can help them for us. An enormous thank you to everyone as we have so far raised £140, and there may be more to come. If you would like to donate, please contact Marion on the Messy Church Facebook page phone number to arrange it. All money raised will be sent to Christian Aid for their work in Africa.

St Asaph Parish Church – A glimpse into its reordering journey.

We welcome you to view this video link The Journey to very briefly experience the church’s transformation that has come about by the recent reordering project.

The church is very gradually returning to a form of normality, with Sunday (9.30am) and Thursday (10.00am) services having resumed. The church is also open on Thursday afternoon 12.00pm to 4.30pm for private prayer and for visiting. The pandemic restrictions and guidance remain in place, in accordance with the current Welsh Government guidelines.

St Asaph Parish Church has been restructured and renovated internally thanks to the vision of our architect Mr Graham Holland (Graham Holland Associated) and the attention to detail of the contractor Grosvenor Construction Ltd.

All this has been possible thanks to the generosity of the Welsh Government; National Churches Trust; Gwynt-y-Mor Wind farms, and Church Fields Trust (Buckley). St Asaph community also generously supported the amazing transformation of a medieval building into a practical, modern facility to be celebrated and enjoyed.

There has been universal welcome and approval of the changes to this sacred building, which have contributed positively to the atmosphere for worship and community use alike.

Call in; it will be our privilege to welcome you.

Return of Messy Church to the ‘new’ transformed church building

On Sunday 13th June, we welcomed back into the “new” church building five family groups for Messy Church. It was great to once again be able to meet in person, even if socially distanced and of course with the necessary  ‘Covid’ precautions. We shared the story of Pentecost, with music and with crafts; and following the service hot food and drinks were prepared and served from the  new kitchen.   What a lovely morning!

Baptism 9th May 2021

The first Baptism ceremony following the reordering of the church was recently held on the 09th May 2021, when the church welcomed baby Albie Thomas into God’s family.

The intimate atmosphere of the ceremony proved a thoroughly joyous occasion for all, despite the limited number allowed to attend due to the current pandemic restriction.

Albie, we welcome you; may God’s joy, love and peace fill you through all tomorrows.

Organisations Supporting ‘Reduction in the Lonely and the Isolated’.

A link to the many organisations supporting the ‘Reduction in Lonely and Isolated’ can be found in the LINKS page within the EXTRAS dropdown menu, or by clicking here.

These organisations and charities can provide excellent direct support, advice, or training on very many issues, including support for those living with dementia. It may be that you need to use one of them for yourself or a relative, or you might like to volunteer your services with them.

Please do not hesitate to contact them; they will really welcome your direct approach, either on their web site, or by the telephone numbers which are listed in the link.

If you have difficulty contacting any of the organisations, please telephone our church on 01745 535957, and we will try to help you in contacting the services. If there is no reply, please leave your details and we will return your call.

Messy Church 2021 – Epiphany

Messy Church began 2021 with Epiphany, and the story of the wise men visiting the baby Jesus. King Herod made a pantomime style appearance (he’s behind you!!). We made 3 wise men and a star to help us remember the story.

We will be meeting every 2 weeks during lockdown, so if anyone else would like to join us, please WhatsApp or text 07841 160430 for a zoom link. Links are issued individually, and should not be shared to help maintain a secure “room”.

‘Crack the Code’ is back.

The QR codes for this walking and discovering family focussed activity will remain in place until Jan 11th when the children return to school (possibly), so you still have a chance to dodge the rain and snow to discover the real meaning of Christmas, if you haven’t already. When you get to clue 3, look to your right to find clue 4. That’s as much help as you need!  Enjoy, SAFELY.

Please ensure that you follow all current government Social Distancing guidance as you take part in this trail.

Crib and Christingle service, St Asaph Parish Church: 2020

This popular service was broadcast on www.stasaphcathedral.wales page at 4pm on Christmas Eve. During the 2 weeks prior to this, some 60 “Christingle kits” were made and delivered. Clearly from just some of the photos received, the message of Christmas was received and enjoyed in the safety of our own homes. The service is still available to view if you missed it. Thank you to the staff and children of year 2 at St Asaph VP Infants School, and the other readers for their lovely help with making the service so special.

It is everyones’ hope that we will be able to meet in person again in 2021. Meanwhile, please remember to Stay Safe everyone.
