Last Tuesday, the 26^th October, Messy Church Holiday Club was blessed with lovely sunny weather for our sponsored walk along the river bank, made more exciting with a scavenger hunt! We realised on Climate Sunday that though we can’t help people affected by climate change directly, we can raise money to give to people who can help them for us. An enormous thank you to everyone as we have so far raised £140, and there may be more to come. If you would like to donate, please contact Marion on the Messy Church Facebook page phone number to arrange it. All money raised will be sent to Christian Aid for their work in Africa.

On Sunday 13^th June, we welcomed back into the “new” church building five family groups for Messy Church. It was great to once again be able to meet in person, even if socially distanced and of course with the necessary  ‘Covid’ precautions. We shared the story of Pentecost, with music and with crafts; and following the service hot food and drinks were prepared and served from the  new kitchen.   What a lovely morning!

The first Baptism ceremony following the reordering of the church was recently held on the 09^th May 2021, when the church welcomed baby Albie Thomas into God’s family.

The intimate atmosphere of the ceremony proved a thoroughly joyous occasion for all, despite the limited number allowed to attend due to the current pandemic restriction.

Albie, we welcome you; may God’s joy, love and peace fill you through all tomorrows.

These organisations and charities can provide excellent direct support, advice, or training on very many issues, including support for those living with dementia. It may be that you need to use one of them for yourself or a relative, or you might like to volunteer your services with them.

Messy Church began 2021 with Epiphany, and the story of the wise men visiting the baby Jesus. King Herod made a pantomime style appearance (he’s behind you!!). We made 3 wise men and a star to help us remember the story.

We will be meeting every 2 weeks during lockdown, so if anyone else would like to join us, please WhatsApp or text 07841 160430 for a zoom link. Links are issued individually, and should not be shared to help maintain a secure “room”.

The QR codes for this walking and discovering family focussed activity will remain in place until Jan 11^th when the children return to school (possibly), so you still have a chance to dodge the rain and snow to discover the real meaning of Christmas, if you haven’t already. When you get to clue 3, look to your right to find clue 4. That’s as much help as you need!  Enjoy, SAFELY.

This popular service was broadcast on www.stasaphcathedral.wales page at 4pm on Christmas Eve. During the 2 weeks prior to this, some 60 “Christingle kits” were made and delivered. Clearly from just some of the photos received, the message of Christmas was received and enjoyed in the safety of our own homes. The service is still available to view if you missed it. Thank you to the staff and children of year 2 at St Asaph VP Infants School, and the other readers for their lovely help with making the service so special.

It is everyones’ hope that we will be able to meet in person again in 2021. Meanwhile, please remember to Stay Safe everyone.
